About Eoin Colfer
Eoin Colfer is best known for his Artemis Fowl series of books. He is an Irish author as well as a comedian although his books have gained worldwide recognition. He is compared often to authors such as JK Rowling and was asked to write the sixth installment of “The Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy,” although the first five books were written by the late Douglas Adams.
Colfer was born and raised in Wexford, Ireland, where he continues to live with his wife and children. He is 44 years old and has written several works that have brought him critical acclaim His best know works are those in the Artemis Fowl series.
Eoin Colfer combines both humor as well as rational thought in his books. The Artemis Fowl book earned him a place as a New York Times best selling author for books for children and teens. His genre reaches across adventure, science fiction as well as fantasy. Though he is known for being a children’s and younger person’s author, his books have also spanned generations, in the same way that the “Harry Potter” series have done.
Colfer uses humor throughout his works. In addition to his Artemis Fowl series, he has also published the popular Benny Shaw books. These include Benny and Omar as well as Benny and Babe.
Another popular series that has earned him critical acclaim is the Ed series that includes Ed’s Funny Feet, Ed’s Bed and more.
The Artemis Fowl books have, however, eclipsed his other works, despite the fact that they are well written and entertaining. The books in the Artemis Fowl series include:
